What size bulb do you need?
Bulb width sizes are measured (for some silly reason) in 1/8 inch increments. To find out whether or not you need an R40, PAR38, R30 or R20 measure the width across the top of the bulb and divide that number by .125 If you measured 5" for example and divide by .125 you will get 40. Consequently, an R40 bulb will work for you. Also be sure to measure the overall length. Because of the special construction of CFL reflectors some may be longer than what you are replacing.
