16 watt dimmable R30 EarthBulb CFL floodlight replaces 65 watt BR30 incandescent floodlights for over 75% energy savings. Earthbulb compact fluorescents use Amalgam rather than Liquid Mercury. Earthbulb CFL's use amalgam for two very important reasons.

1) This allows all Earthbulb CFL's to be used in totally enclosed fixtures and

2) The use of amalgam eliminates the environmental concern regarding disposal of CFL's. The mercury used in the lamps is entirely contained inside the amalgam alloy and does not escape when the lamp is destroyed or disposed of.
